Break Up Turns Violent, Ends in Maryland Man's Arrest

Sep 9, 2024 - On Thursday, September 5, the Flagler County Sheriff's Office responded to a domestic disturbance in Bunnell. Deputies found the victim at a nearby residence in distress with obvious signs of being attacked. The victim told deputies she had been dating Steven McSwain, 47, of Maryland for about a month.

Sep 9, 2024 - On Monday, September 9, Flagler County Sheriff’s Office deputies arrested a man who had driven from Volusia County into Flagler County to meet a 16-year-old girl for sex.

Man Sentenced to Prison for Secretly Recording Underaged Victim

Sep 5, 2024 - On September 3, Tyler Habdas, 32, was sentenced to five years in prison, followed by eight years of sex offender probation. He was found guilty by a jury in July on five counts of Unlawful Use of a Two-way Communication Device, three counts of Video Voyeurism involving a Victim Under 12, and Child Abuse.

Stolen Cellphones, Jewelry, and Credit Cards Lead to Three Arrests for Narcotics and Recovery of Stolen Property

Aug 29, 2024 - On August 20, a Palm Coast resident reported two cellphones, a tablet, jewelry, and credit cards were taken from her home on Frontier Drive. The victim also told deputies more than $8,000 was charged to the cards before they were canceled and deactivated. The victim stated the suspect, Jody Rogers, 53, of Bunnell took the items.

Aug 28, 2024 - On Tuesday, August 27, the Flagler County Sheriff’s Office arrested a 19-year-old male wanted in Rhode Island after he drove a stolen Ferrari into Flagler County, fled from deputies at dangerous speeds, and attempted to hide at a residence in Palm Coast.

Aug 26, 2024 - The Flagler County Sheriff’s Office has a new device in the fight against criminals and to keep deputies safe. The MX908 is a handheld device for the identification of suspected illegal narcotics and explosives, as well as real-time chemical detection. The device can be used to analyze solid, liquid, vapor, and aerosol samples in a matter of minutes.

Deputies’ Training and Community Awareness Leads to Drug Arrest

Aug 22, 2024 - On August 22, around 3 a.m., Flagler County Sheriff’s Office deputies were on patrol along Mahogany Boulevard in Daytona North. The deputies noticed a vehicle in a driveway with the lights on and not running and appeared to be unoccupied. Knowing this was uncommon for the residence at that hour, the deputies investigated further.

Aug 8, 2024 - On August 7, 2024, Robert “Bob” Newsholme, who had been the subject of local and federal investigations into allegations of fraud and embezzlement since 2021, was arrested in Las Vegas. Newsholme, 68, was arrested after Flagler County Sheriff’s Office detectives determined he had conducted an organized scheme to defraud clients of his tax business.
