Public Meeting: Domestic Violence Summit 2018 follow-up

Jan 22, 2018 - Sheriff Rick Staly and the Flagler County Sheriff’s Office are hosting a follow-up meeting to report on the committees’ progress since the last meeting in October 2017. Each committee chairperson or designee will discuss the status of the ideas and initiatives identified at the summit three months ago. This meeting is open to the public.

Elementary Students Approached by Suspicious Man

Jan 18, 2018 - The children alerted their parent that a black male between 20-30 years old driving a black pickup truck with chrome wheels stopped beside the boys and told them to “get in the truck.” The boys yelled loudly and ran safely to their home while the truck sped away.

Death Investigation on Fort Caroline Lane; No Foul Play Suspected

Jan 16, 2018 - Flagler County Sheriff’s deputies and detectives responded to 21 Fort Caroline Lane in Palm Coast around 6 p.m. Monday evening. A woman, Jessica Coubrough, 55, was located deceased within the residence. It appeared she had been deceased for a period of time.

UPDATE: Death Ruled a Homicide, Ex-Husband Arrested for Murder

Jan 15, 2018 - A death at 6 Point Pleasant Drive in Palm Coast on Thursday, January 11, has been ruled a homicide by the Medical Examiner’s Office. The deceased, Faith Lorraine Cummings, 44, died from blunt force trauma to the head with asphyxiation. Faith’s ex-husband, Michael Cummings, 46, was charged with second-degree murder with a weapon.

Joy Ride in Stolen Car Ends With Two Daytona Beach Area Criminals in Custody

Jan 12, 2018 - Jaylan Braswell, DOB 9/23/1999, and Keilan Johnson, DOB 5/15/2001,were arrested and will be charged with Grand Theft Auto, Burglary of a Conveyance, and Grand Theft over $300. Johnson was also charged with Violation of Probation as he is currently on juvenile post commitment probation for a prior offense.

FCSO Investigating Suspicious Death - Male Arrested for Obstruction of Justice

Jan 11, 2018 - “At this point, it is a death investigation,” Sheriff Rick Staly said. “We’re taking all of the necessary steps so that if this does turn into a criminal investigation, we will have a thorough understanding of the entire area in order to prosecute any potential suspects. The best case scenario is that this turns out to be a medical issue and there is no foul play. Only the ongoing investigation can determine that.”

Sheriff’s Office Receives $161,542.26 Grant to Combat Domestic Violence

Jan 10, 2018 - The Flagler County Sheriff’s Office responded to 667 Domestic Violence incidents in 2016. The 2017-year saw a 7% increase in Domestic Violence related incidents, three of which involved domestic-related homicides. “We’re responding to two to three Domestic related calls daily,” Sheriff Rick Staly said.

Flagler County School NOT the Target of Social Media Threat

Jan 7, 2018 - The Flagler County Sheriff’s Communications Center received multiple calls Sunday evening concerning a social media post threatening a school named “MHS.” A thorough investigation has found that the “MHS” mentioned in the post is Monticello High School in Albemarle County, Virginia. The threat was not referencing Matanzas High School in Palm Coast.

Jan 4, 2018 - Reardon was charged with leaving the scene of an accident with property damage and leaving the scene of an accident with injury. While searching Reardon prior to transporting him to the jail, cocaine was located in his wallet. He was subsequently charged with possession of cocaine.

Jan 3, 2018 - “Getting into a cold car is better than getting your car stolen,” Sheriff Rick Staly said. “Dress appropriately for the weather and plan to stay in your vehicle until the windows are defrosted and it is safe to drive. Luckily this car was returned to the owner with little damage.”

Holiday Safety Campaign Delivers Results

Jan 2, 2018 - During the enforcement campaign that ran from December 13th through the 31st, Flagler County Sheriff’s deputies conducted 1,249 traffic stops and made nine arrests for driving under the influence. There were no traffic fatalities in Flagler County during this time.

Man Rigs Door in Attempt to Electrocute Wife

Dec 29, 2017 - Once on scene, deputies observed that the front door appeared to be barricaded and there were burn marks near the door handle. A deputy kicked the door and upon doing so, a large spark was observed. Based on observations made by the deputies on scene, it was apparent that the suspect rigged electrical devices to the top door lock and lower door handle in an attempt to electrocute and cause serious bodily injury or even death to whomever attempted to unlock and open the front door of the residence.
