Sheriff’s Office Employee Arrested for Grand Theft

Mar 26, 2018 - On February 14, Sheriff Rick Staly received allegations that a civilian employee, Nancy Birdsong, had been falsifying her timesheets. Sheriff Staly immediately ordered a criminal investigation that resulted in Birdsong’s arrest today for grand theft. Birdsong was suspended without pay pending an internal investigation by the Flagler County Sheriff’s Office.

Mar 23, 2018 - Flagler County Sheriff Rick Staly “arrested” several Community leaders this afternoon - all for a good cause! For the second year in a row, Sheriff Staly made numerous “arrests” to benefit the American Cancer Society’s (ACS) Jail’n Bail event that has raised over $4,000 so far.

Mar 21, 2018 - Leroy Sampson Jr., DOB 4/19/1989, was featured on Sheriff Rick Staly’s Fugitive Friday Bingo video series on January 19. The Flagler County Sheriff’s Office had four active warrants for his arrest; three warrants for sale of a schedule II controlled substance and one warrant for fleeing or attempting to elude law enforcement at a high rate of speed.

Man Charged with Battery for Instigating Fight Between Juveniles and then Joining In

Mar 21, 2018 - On Monday, March 19th, Flagler County Sheriff’s deputies responded to a disturbance at Indian Trails Sports Complex in Palm Coast where two fourteen year old boys had engaged in a fight. Upon further investigation, deputies discovered that not only had the boys been fighting but the father of one of the boys, Anthony Gardiner, 34 years old, instigated the fight between the two and then jumped in the fight himself.

Wanted Fugitive Arrested After Foot Pursuit

Mar 19, 2018 - Eric William Ferrante, of 54 Bird of Paradise Drive in Palm Coast, had a warrant for his arrest which revoked his bond in reference to an earlier burglary arrest. Ferrante was most recently arrested on March 8 for possession of cannabis and drug paraphernalia and has prior arrests dating back to 2014 for burglary, narcotics and failure to appear.

Who Will Sheriff Staly and his Posse 'Arrest' at the Second Annual Relay for Life Jail'n Bail?

Mar 19, 2018 - Sheriff Rick Staly will be patrolling the streets and serving warrants to public officials and participating citizens to raise money for the Relay for Life at the second annual Jail’n Bail on March 23. Sheriff Staly will “arrest” the participants and transport them to “jail” at the Hilton Garden Inn where they will have to make bail (via donations to the American Cancer Society) in order to bond out.

Mar 16, 2018 - Community Policing Division Chief Paul Bovino graduated from the 271st session of the FBI National Academy (FBINA) in Quantico, Virginia on March 16. Less than 1% of all law enforcement officers receive the invitation to this prestigious 10-week academy during their career. Sheriff Rick Staly graduated from the 177th session of the FBINA and was in attendance for Chief Bovino’s graduation.

Mar 13, 2018 - Numerous Flagler County Sheriff’s Office resources were used during the investigation including the need for a detective to travel to Knoxville twice. The FCSO is seeking reimbursement from Wilson totaling $5,748.85. That is $4,978.85 in investigative costs and $770.00 in extradition to Flagler County. The Flagler County Sheriff’s Office has requested that the defendant repay the Sheriff’s Office (and the taxpayers) for the investigative costs associated with the investigation and arrest.

Feb 26, 2018 - Flagler County Sheriff Rick Staly spoke this morning on the progress of the STRIDE (Skills, Transitional Support, Respect, Integrity, Direction, and Employment) initiative that began in 2017 under the leadership of the Offender Rehabilitation & Inmate Services Director Becky Quintieri at the Flagler County Detention Facility. STRIDE includes a multitude of programs for inmates booked or sentenced to the county jail. The goal of STRIDE is to rehabilitate offenders and turn them into productive members of society by giving them the tools to be successful once released from jail.

Feb 26, 2018 - Several stolen flags were recovered on Sunday after Flagler County Sheriff’s Office (FCSO) deputies assisted a man who was trying to catch two horses running down County Road 305. After the horses were retrieved, Charles Cowart Jr. informed deputies that he had “something to show them” at his residence. Charles Cowart Jr. went into the residence and then came out with a very large American Flag.
