FCSO Employees, Volunteers Honored at 2024 Third and Fourth Awards Ceremony

Jan 10, 2025 - Employees who selflessly put themselves in harm’s way to save strangers, solved lengthy investigations resulting in arrests, and worked tirelessly during hurricanes are among those who were honored during the Flagler County Sheriff’s Office’s 2024 Third and Fourth Quarter Awards Ceremony held on January 9, 2025, at the Flagler County Sheriff’s Operations Center.

Suspect Pulls Gun on Deputy, is Quickly Subdued

Jan 5, 2025 - On the night of January 4, just before midnight, Deputy Christopher Murphy was conducting patrols in the W-Section of Palm Coast when he observed a male, later identified as Michael McDermott, 38, on the sidewalk alongside Pine Lakes Parkway standing next to a bicycle on the ground. Deputy Murphy attempted contact with McDermott, but McDermott picked up the bike and began to ride away.

Dec 31, 2024 - Flagler County Sheriff’s Office deputies made 12 arrests this past weekend between 6 p.m. on Friday, December 27, 2024, and 6 a.m. on Monday, December 30, 2024. Deputies handled 609 calls for service and made 159 traffic stops.

12 Drug Dealers Arrested in Operation Silent Night

Dec 19, 2024 - The Flagler County Sheriff’s Office has concluded Operation Silent Night, a 10-month undercover operation targeting drug dealers throughout Flagler County. The operation ended with a warrant sweep on the morning of December 19, during which 12 arrests were made.

Dec 12, 2024 - Commander Joe Barile graduated from the 292nd Session of the FBI National Academy in Quantico, Virginia on Thursday, December 12. Commander Barile is the third active Flagler County Sheriff’s Office member to graduate from this prestigious academy, joining Sheriff Rick Staly (177th Session) and Division Chief Jon Welker (286th Session)

Sheriff’s Deputy in Training Saves a Life

Jul 19, 2018 - Just after midnight on Tuesday, Deputies responded to a medical call on Kalorama Court in Palm Coast. Deputy Anthony Bifano, a new recruit to the Flagler County Sheriff’s Office, and his Field Training Officer Deputy Jacob West were first to arrive on scene. A female had called 9-1-1 and reported that her husband was unresponsive and not breathing.

FCSO Announces S.W.E.A.T. Program To Get Juvenile Offenders Back on Track

Jul 10, 2018 - The Flagler County Sheriff’s Office (FCSO) has unveiled a new program aimed to get juvenile offenders back on the right track. The new program is called S.W.E.AT. (Sheriff’s Work Ethic and Training) and the mission of the program is to supervise, guide, mentor, and lead juvenile offenders by direction and discussions.

Man Poses as Sheriff's Detective in Phone Scam

Jul 10, 2018 - The Flagler County Sheriff’s Office does not employ a Dennis Rumble. The phone number used to contact the citizen was 386-401-3719. When actual FCSO Detectives called the number, they found a voicemail set up where the person does in fact represent himself as an employee of the Flagler County Sheriff’s Office.

FCSO Urges Citizens to Practice Firework Safety

Jul 2, 2018 - Did you know that any fireworks that explode or launch into the air are illegal in the State of Florida and that the Agricultural Exemption you may sign when purchasing fireworks is not appropriate if you plan on using your fireworks in a residential area? The Flagler County Sheriff’s Office (FCSO) is urging residents to practice firework safety and learn the laws BEFORE setting off your fireworks this year.

City of Flagler Beach Commissioner Arrested for Domestic Violence

Jun 30, 2018 - A City of Flagler Beach Commissioner was arrested on Friday night and charged with Domestic Violence after a concerned witness reported violence between the defendant and his girlfriend. Eric Cooley, 43, was arrested at his home on North Central Avenue in Flagler Beach after an investigation by deputies at the 7-Eleven business that Cooley owns at 408 South Ocean Shore Boulevard.

Woman Charged for Helping Missing Teen Run Away

Jun 29, 2018 - After FCSO sent out a news release on Tuesday naming Kindra as person of interest in Samantha’s disappearance, Samantha approached a police officer in South Florida and identified herself as a missing person. When Samantha was located, she admitted that Kindra had purchased and given her a cell phone on the night she went missing and that this entire 8-month investigation could have been avoided had Kindra simply cooperated with law enforcement.
